Sleeping Inn Surfers Paradise wakes up to fresh new look

September 19th, 2017 | | Accommodation

The legendary Surfers Paradise party hostel, Sleeping Inn, has undergone a complete renovation and management overhaul. The Byte spoke to new General Manager, Kellie Brookes about what to expect at the new-look Sleeping Inn.

So Kellie, tell us about the new renos- what can backpackers expect?
The whole place has been revamped – from the rooms, lounges, there are new kitchens, a new cinema room, reception, chill out area, pool area and car park/entrance to give the place a fresh new funky look. We are also looking to put in a putt putt course to give the backpackers a little something more!

What has stayed the same at Sleeping Inn?
Our friendly staff are still there to make sure the guests still have that home away from home feel. Plus we still have something going on every night of the week such as, The Famous Dive Inn Movies by the pool, $5 all you can eat Aussie BBQ by the pool, The Big Night Out (club crawl), and $5 all you can eat pizza… as well as more to come!!

What is the focus of the new management team?
Organic growth through building stronger relationships within the industry and promoting the Gold Coast as a destination.

Any exciting plans for summer?
Coming into the warmer months we will be looking at introducing daytime pool parties with DJs & open mic nights. Sleeping Inn’s GC amazing race. We are also putting together something free for the guests to do daily like beach days out, markets tours and so much more. There are endless opportunities.

Where were you working before and how did you end up at Sleeping Inn?
I’ve just finished reopening the new Mantra Club Croc in Airlie where I helped set up the front office and restaurant for a year. But before that I was the GM of Base and Nomads for 6 years, involved with the merger between the both properties creating a 16 acre, 618 bed, 2 massive party bars and 2 successful travel desks.

The boys from Sleeping Inn have just recently leased the management rights for Sleeping Inn to a newcomer to the industry, Antony Rizzo and were looking for someone to come in that has the been in the industry for a long time and has the passion for what we’re all about. That being FUN and creating lasting memories for all our guests. After spending 15 years in Airlie I’m really keen to embrace this opportunity I’ve been given and help create the East Coast’s #1 hostel and backpacker experience!
