A NEW travel company offering authentic, local adventures and flexible transport options is set to launch in Australia later this year.
Kiwi Experience and Oz Experience founder Neil Geddes and business partner Dan Roberts, who created travel reservations system Junction6, will begin operating the new venture, Loka, in November.
Loka – which means „world” in Sanskrit – will offer flexible guided travel using a combination of Loka’s mini-coaches and public transport, giving travellers the freedom to change their plans as they discover new experiences along the way.
Customers will also be able to find, book, share, rate and review activities on the company’s website and app.
Mr Geddes said staff will work with local communities to create sustainable, authentic experiences and make sure they are ready to receive visitors.
Options will include a bush camp and canoe trip with Aborigines, receiving tips from a bush tucker and survival expert and playing lawn bowls with the locals at a club in Yamba in northern NSW.
„We will offer unique activities not usually available to tourists,” he said.
„From more than 20 years experience working in the adventure sector I’ve found it’s the simple local things that actually blow people away.
„People are increasingly wanting authentic experiences and it’s what truly sets a destination apart.”
The pair has also partnered with hop-on, hop-off travel company Bamba Experience to operate Bamba’s Australian product and offer clients a two-tiered product of guided, full service travel on Loka and unguided flexibility on Bamba.
They plan to expand to Europe next year and develop routes in South East Asia and South America in the future.
The company’s website www.loka.travel will launch in August 2014.
