Have your say on „Beyond Tourism 2020”. Feedback form attached

If you have opinions on what the Federal Government’s tourism priorities should be over the next decade, now is your chance to voice them, in the „Beyond Tourism 2020” consultation process.

A year ago, the Australian Government established a „Beyond Tourism 2020” Steering Committee to develop a vision and strategy for Australian tourism into the future. The Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham, has just released the Committee’s Report to Government and launched a public consultation process – see media release here

The report supports the value of Working Holiday Makers to Australia, and also notes other key issues that affect the backpacker sector, including transportation, infrastructure and accommodation development.

The report, along with details of the consultation process and a feedback form for you to have your say, can be found at

Several tourism organisations, including YHA, have already made submissions to the Committee on issues affecting the industry. Now is the opportunity for any interested backpacker/adventure tourism operators to get involved by posting feedback via the online form, but don’t delay – the deadline is 8 March 2019.
