Christchurch NZ is open for business & BATCH formed to promote youth tourism by operators

July 6th, 2017 | | industry

Christchurch has a new voice in the youth tourism market, (BATCH) Backpacker & Adventure Tourism Christchurch has been formed to address several issues currently facing Christchurch and Canterbury tourism. The group is made of a number of prominent hostel owners and activity providers in the city and is able to draw down on many decades of experience.

BATCH will work closely with the newly formed ChristchurchNZ (Old CCT) to collectively help put Christchurch and Canterbury back on the map as Christchurch is open for business, two new state of the art hostels have opened in the last 20 months almost doubling the bed capacity, Christchurch Adventure Park will reopen before Christmas and will again attract thousands of cycling enthusiasts. The Christchurch – Picton highway will also be open before Christmas so there is a lot of positive news for the region.

Many tourism operators and so tourists unfortunately have the perception Christchurch is still broken, far from it! There is an abundance of bars, restaurants, and other forms of entertainment to suit every taste plus a walk around town seeing the rebuild in full flight is something to experience.

There are dozens of activities people can enjoy from a lazy kayak on the Avon river to Grade 5 rafting on the Rangitata, there is blocart sailing, drift bikes, swimming with dolphins, gondola and tram experiences, 4WD tours, many beautiful walks on the Port Hills, hot pools, etc. The list just goes on so come and see it for yourself!
