LYTE BYTE: Mankini-clad backpacker going viral for baring it all at Australian landmarks

July 12th, 2017 | | industry

A French backpacker travelling across Australia has developed quite the following on social media, thanks to his very revealing swimsuit. In January 2017, Yann Pung arrived in Australia with a backpack and a uniquely-styled pair of swimmers, also known as a mankini.

As he visited Australia’s most iconic landmarks, including the Sydney Opera House, the Twelve Apostles, and Queensland’s Ellinjaa Falls, Yann would strip down to reveal his mankini, and document it on his Instagram page.

The revealing swimsuit, made famous in the comedy flick Borat leaves very little to the imagination, but as it turns out, it’s been by Yann’s side for quite some time. “I’ve been putting my mankini on for big events such as friends’ birthdays since 2013, and I thought it would be great bringing it to Australia to show it off.”

While most of Yann’s snaps have been taken at remote locations, he did strip off in public at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, which didn’t amuse everyone. “It can get slightly stressful when a lot of people are around but most of them see the funny side to it like they should!” he added.

So what’s next for this serial stripper? Once he’s seen the rest of Australia, Yann plans on taking his mankini photos worldwide and continue making people laugh.

Funny, self-promotion, acceptable, marketing opportunity? Have your say
